Our History

History of FrayMUN

The Model of United Nations started as a simulation of the League of Nations, first named International Assembly, and was held at Oxford University in the year 1921. Mir Mahmood, the formal president of this conference, urged with help relayed on Harvard to create the American International Assembly where the students would have the opportunity to represent countries, debate to find solutions, and deal with international disputes in the negotiation tables.

After the Second World War and the foundation of the United Nations, the International Assembly changed to be what know we know as the Model of United Nations.

In May 2019 we had our very first session of FrayMUN organized by sophomore students, with the participation of other high school and middle school members. There were four committees debating on crucial topics distributed on the General Assembly, Security Council, World Health Organization, and UN High Commissioner for Refugees

For this second session of FrayMUN, a new group of students will be in charge of planning this event for you, having created a 5th committee and making available entire committees in Spanish as well, the expectations are high, so the FrayMUN team invites you to give your best effort and is looking forward to work with you in future projects.
